MOSCOW – The arraignment on a murder charge for a Moscow man was continued Monday.

2nd District Judge John Stegner postponed the arraignment for 24-year-old James C. Leonard.

After the proceeding, Leonard's public defender Sunil Ramalingam said he appealed for a disqualification of Judge Stegner, but the request was denied.

Ramalingam told Stegner he needs more time to research the decision and investigate all his options. He said he hasn't ruled out appealing the order to the Sate Supreme Court, but has yet to make an official decision.

The original arraignment date was July 11. On Monday it was re-scheduled for August 18.

Leonard is charged with the second-degree murder of 25-year-old Tyler Pace Lee. Leonard was initially charged with voluntarily manslaughter, but Latah County Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson filed the new charges in May when new evidence was discovered.

Leonard remains free on the original bond of $10,000.
