They got several calls from people living in eastern Washington counties who said someone called and informed them that they have an outstanding warrant from Whitman County. Scam victims were then told they had to pay a fee to avoid immediate arrest.
Some victims had already provided credit card information or transferred money to the scammers electronically.

They advised to hang up and report this type of scamming phone call immediately to the Whitman County Sheriff’s office. That number is (509)397-6266.
