High-beams are not a good idea in fog
PULLMAN, WA - Police are urging drivers to slow down as fog continues to create hazardous road conditions on the Palouse.

Freezing Fog has been a factor during the morning commute over the last two days. Pullman Police responded to multiple minor accidents as a result of the icy conditions. Headlights are also important in making sure you get to work safe on a foggy day.

"They don't really help you see better in the fog in the daytime, but it definitely helps and aids other drivers seeing you,” said Pullman Police Commander Chris Tennant. “So please, daytime headlights, slow down, be aware of the ice factor."

Some vehicles are equipped with fog lights which can also help navigate through the fog; however, high-beams are not useful in foggy conditions because the water particles reflect the light and make it more difficult to see.
