It happened just before 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Thain and Powers. Lewiston Police said a Subaru Forester was southbound, preparing to turn onto Powers. That's when two other cars created a three-car pile up in the intersection.
Police said they were getting conflicting reports from the drivers of the two rear vehicles, and had not determined whether the Toyota rear-ended the Subaru first, or the rear car forced the Toyota into the Subaru. LPD said two people were transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Sergeant Ted Piche said inattentive driving citations are pending their investigation.
"It was probably a low-impact crash from what it looks like," Piche said. "Not a lot of damage. It looks like everybody we've talked to so far was buckled up. That probably takes a role in no injuries today."
