Ahsahka man injured in fatal crash near Fruitland

FRUITLAND - An Ahsahka man was injured Saturday in a crash on U.S. 95 about five miles south of Fruitland.

Idaho State Police said it happened around 3:30 p.m. at mile post 58. ISP said Emery Spangler, 69 of Fruitland, was driving his 2004 GMC pickup southbound on 95 when he began to turn left onto Glenway Avenue. Dallas Chillquist, 54 of Payette was driving his 1985 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on 95 when Spangler's pickup struck him.

Chillquist was thrown from his bike. Spangler's passenger, Ronald Beeman, 62 of Ahsahka, was trapped in the GMC pickup. Lifeflight transported Chillquist to Saint Alphonsus where he died from his injuries. Beeman was transported to Holy Rosary Medical Center where his condition was unknown.

Spangler did not suffer any injuries. Chillquist was not wearing a helmet.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in this crash. The crash is under investigation.
