ASOTIN - Asotin County officials were keeping their eyes on local rivers and creeks Tuesday. Asotin County Emergency Manager Butch Aiken. said they are constantly monitoring the situation.

"As we've been talking for a number of months, the Snake is way up - 16," said Aiken. "It floods at 20. If you're out there playing in the streams, try to keep an eye on the undertows. The water is at 50 degrees. Hypothermia could set in if you're out there playing."

Aiken said that rivers are at their banks and homeowners had been notified.

"The Grande Ronde is right at flood stage as of this morning," said Aiken. "They're predicting it's going to cool off. Major flooding I don't foresee, after talking to National Weather and driving to Troy to look at everything."

Aiken said Asotin Creek is also running high.

"The snow pack is melting off quite rapidly, but as soon as it cools off, the nights will cool off and the snow melt will slow down," he said.
