ASOTIN - Could you have survived in the Old West?

Asotin County 5th graders took a trip back in time at the fairgrounds Thursday to try and answer that question. Kids visited different stations to learn about survival in the 1800s.

"Camping and making clothes, wagon rides, gold panning, things that were going on in the 1800s - they're seeing," said Anita Cummings, Rendezvous coordinator.

Other stations included, how to pack a mule, Nez Perce Tribal dancing and how to make an arrowhead.

"I think they enjoy it and they learn quite a bit,” Cummings said. “We've got William Clark here and he tells about the Lewis and Clark Expedition."

The event was put on by the Clarkston School District and volunteers.
