LEWISTON - Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash Monday morning on U.S. 95.

It happened just after 9:00 a.m. Idaho State Police said two cars ended up in the southbound lanes of 95, but were originally northbound about a quarter mile from the Clearwater River Casino.

"The minivan tried to pass, hit the front of the Civic,” said ISP Trooper Jason Collins. “They both went through the median and into oncoming traffic, and came to their finals points of rest on the highway."

ISP said the 1998 Chrysler van, driven by 79-year-old Lenore resident Nellie Norland, rolled across the median. She and her husband, 80-year-old Lester Norland, were both taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, after they were extricated from the van. They were treated and released.

The driver of the Honda Civic, 32-year-old Ambor Becker of Clarkston, and her passenger, 32-year-old Steven Porter of Lenore were not injured.

Traffic was backed up for about a mile behind the crash scene, and was at a stand-still for about 20 minutes, as ISP investigated.

No citations have been issued, but ISP said they are still investigating and that it appears the driver of the van was at fault.
