OROFINO - Five Orofino Junior High students have been expelled after allegedly bringing prescription drugs to school.

Superintendent Dale Durkee says the decision was made at the school board meeting last week. Durkee said the school district has been taking steps with the students since the issue was uncovered.

He said there have been multiple incidents involving prescription drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.

Boise Police officer Jermaine Galloway will visit the community in March to discuss substance abuse with students and parents.

Durkee says the five students could be re-admitted upon successfully completing a certified substance abuse course
