ASOTIN - A Clarkston woman plead not guilty to four counts of animal cruelty Wednesday.

35-year-old Angela Kaschmitter is accused of leaving her horses to fend for themselves.

Her lawyer, Tom Ledgerwood, appeared for her in Asotin County District Court Wednesday afternoon and entered the plea on her behalf.

Ledgerwood told Judge Ray Lutes that evidence will prove the horses' poor health was the result of a medical condition and that they were under the care of a veterinarian.

Kaschmitter's trial is set to begin January 24.
