LEWISTON - A Tea Party was held Saturday in front of Lewiston City Hall.

It was a smaller affair than some in the past, but featured the usual patriotic theme, especially as it fell on September 11.

"It's sometimes difficult for me to believe that it has been nine years since that fateful day that changed all of our lives in some way," said Republican U.S. Congressional candidate Raul Labrador. "We will remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when our nation was attacked. I think we always will."

Labrador talked about the changes after 9-11 and where America stands now.

"Our country has changed a lot since then," said Labrador. "For a time we were all united in a common purpose. But unfortunately now we seem more divided than ever. This is why gatherings such as this one are so important to the health of our nation. We can no longer afford to be sitting on the couch trusting that others will take hold of the flame of liberty, keeping our freedom safe for us and our children."

The rally featured patriotic songs and finally, a call to action.

"I am here today to ask that you not stop doing what you're doing," said Labrador. 'Do not stop spreading the word. Do not stop speaking your mind. Do not stop remembering this day and do not stop remembering the principles, the values and the goals that compelled you to come here today."
