Shipments from manufacturers to dealers — a key measure of demand — likely rose 10 percent and is forecast to gain another 4.5 percent next year, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.
That has dealers, manufacturers and suppliers feeling more optimistic as they gather this week for an annual trade show in Louisville. Ky.
Three years ago, the RV industry was in a steep decline. Shipments to dealers slumped to 165,700 units in 2009, as weak demand left dealer lots clogged and forced the industry to lay off about half its workforce.
This year's shipments are forecast at 277,000 units. That's still far behind the 353,400 units shipped in 2007.
