First and Fifth Street Project 4% over budgeted cost

First and Fifth Street Project 4% over budgeted cost
LEWISTON, ID - The Lewiston Urban Renewal Agency is on the home stretch of the First and Fifth Street reconstruction projects, but the additional costs are beginning to add up.

Extra expenses have been added to the $2.5 million reconstruction project, the biggest being a bill for an additional $39,000 for extra costs from M.L Albright and Sons. Tuesday night the Urban Renewal Agency board agreed to a little more than $60,000 in extra costs to be allocated for work done on the first and fifth street project.

"There's always some change order that come through and things that come up that you didn't plan on and so it's not totally unexpected," said Urban renewal member Doug Havens. "I am told that a 4% over and beyond cost on a project of this size is really pretty good."

The board agreed to participate in a ceremony on June 8th for the completion of the First and Fifth Street projects. June 8th will also be the kick off to "Sound Downtown," and the opening of the downtown library.
