LEWISTON, ID - A car flipped Thursday morning at Vineyard Avenue near Hillcrest after it hit a patch of black ice and lost traction.

Sixty-five-year-old Leona Forsey was driving eastbound on Vineyard when she felt her car begin to slide towards the cliffside. When she turned her steering wheel, she over corrected and landed her vehicle in the embankment.

A slick patch of ice was hiding under the shaded part of a tree. Forsey was cut out of her vehicle by the Lewiston Fire Department and transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released with no serious injuries.

Police remind everyone to be cautious while out on the road, especially in areas that receive little to no sunlight.
