Update: Boy, 12, charged with first degree murder of father
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A preliminary autopsy determined a 46-year-old man found dead in his home in southeastern Idaho died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Bannock County Coroner Kim Quick says Paul Danielson died of small caliber wounds.

Investigators believe Danielson was shot late Friday night at his house about 10 miles south of Downey. His 12-year-old son was taken into custody and is being called the primary suspect in the shooting.

On Tuesday, KIFI-TV in Idaho Falls reported that the boy had been charged with first degree murder. Prosecutors have not announced whether he will be charged as a juvenile or as an adult.

Sheriff Lorin Nielsen says officials aren't releasing many details about the shooting because it is still under investigation.

While the sheriff's office has released the name of the boy, it is the policy of KBOI 2News to not identify a juvenile unless they are charged as an adult.
