Additional Nez Perce Co. jail staff hired for security of staff and inmates

Additional Nez Perce Co. jail staff hired for security of staff and inmates
LEWISTON, ID - The Nez Perce County Sheriff's office is almost completely staffed, as additional detention officers begin work.

Last month the county commission agreed to hire three additional detention officers at the Nez Perce county jail. Wednesday, two of the three have started work, while another is scheduled to report for duty at the end of this month. These three new positions were said to be needed in order to keep overtime hours under control.

"One of the detention officers, he's working day shift and the other one is working swing shift, so we have a training officer on each shift," said Nez Perce Co. Sheriff Joe Rodriguez.

A lateral deputy will also start at the jail next week to fill the position Joe Rodriguez held prior to winning election as sheriff. A move in which sheriff Rodriguez said will save the county money since he has already gone through post training.
