LEWISTON, ID - A local junior high principal has been named the 2012 Idaho outstanding secondary principal at the middle school level.

JoAnne Greear of Jenifer Junior High in Lewiston landed the top honor. She was nominated by two teachers and was one of 111 principals in the State to vie for the award.

"It's very much an honor, and it's really an outstanding promotion for this school because it's really the school that earned it," said Jenifer Junior High School Principal JoAnne Greear. "I work with a great staff. I work with great students, so it's fun to lead a school that really works for kids."

Greear's in her seventh year as principal at Jenifer. She'll receive the award at the Idaho Association of Secondary School Principals state conference in August. After that, she'll head to Washington D.C. to be recognized along with the other top principals in the country.
