Male suspect arrested for head-on crash on Blue Bridge

Male suspect arrested for head-on crash on Blue Bridge
LEWISTON, ID - Earlier Friday, the Blue Bridge along Bridge Street was shut down due to a high speed collision that left traffic jammed and several people injured.

The bridge was empty during the busy lunch hour. Lewiston Police Department Officer Dave Gobbi said that while there were no fatalities, several people had to be transported to the hospital.

"A Nissan Sedan came around the corner from Lewiston at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and struck the Lexus head- on, said Gobbi.

Gobbi said the Nissan was driving around at an estimated speed of 50-60 miles per hour then took off towards Clarkston with a mangled car. The Clarkston Police Department was able to identify the 23-year-old driver and arrested him for suspected DUI charges.
