LEWISTON, ID - The preliminary bids are in for the south side expansion of the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport.

Riedesel Engineering will review the bids to verify the responsiveness and will post a bid tabulation Tuesday morning. The south side expansion would call for a 50 by 2,500-foot taxiway, as well as a 300 by 2,500-foot apron.

"This is definitely exciting because this is one of the last steps before we can actually start using the area," said Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport Manager Robin Turner. "That area has, in essence, been unusable since 1944 when the airport opened."

Turner said the $3.5 million project will create jobs which will benefit local economic growth for years to come. The expansion would accommodate private hangers and allow larger aviation companies to do business in the Valley.
