MOSCOW - The 18th annual Back to School Supply Drive, sponsored by Gritman Medical Center and Gritman Junior Volunteers, is under way in Moscow.

The drive collects supplies and distributes them to families in the area. To participate, you can donate supplies at drop boxes located at Gritman Medical Center, the Palouse Mall, Dollar Tree and Walmart.

Gritman Junior Volunteers work with local schools to determine where supplies are needed.

"Actually, it's by the school," said Gritman Junior Volunteer Jenna MacPherson. "So we get our lists and everything from the school. It depends on the age and grade. Sometimes with little kids, graham crackers will be on the list. For older kids, it's mostly binders and calculators, that type of thing."

Last year, about 96 backpacks full of school supplies were collected and distributed. So far, the volunteers have had 38 requests for the supplies.

The drive goes until August 18th.
