Monday the Lewiston City Council and Nez Perce County Commissioners approved changing the Joint Powers Agreement to allow for a majority rule by the board. But just a day later Kent Simmons, one of the city's appointees, resigned from the board.
"We received an email that simply said this is my 'formal resignation'," said Airport Authority Board Chairman William McCann Jr. "So Kent Simmons, about 12:30 today, handed in his formal resignation and we are now at three."
City Council Member Thyra Stevenson said she and other city councilors received the email as well. Since Simmons was the city's appointee, Stevenson said the council will need to start the process of selecting someone to take his place. She said she has not spoken to Simmons about his resignation. Simmons was not available for comment Wednesday.
In other board business, the three commissioners discussed budget amounts and a draft of a purchasing policy and procedures document.
