MOSCOW - A Clarkston teen is accused of hitting a sheriff's deputy with his car and then taking off on foot after crashing it following a pursuit.

The Latah County Sheriff's Office said just before 1:00 a.m Sunday, Deputy Robert Rand approached a suspicious vehicle parked behind Walgreen's in Moscow.

Rand said while he was questioning the 17-year-old driver of the 1998 Jeep Cherokee, the teen pulled away struck Rand with the car. Rand was not injured.

Backup units pursued the Jeep until it crashed into a power pole at Washington and A Street.

The teen was treated for minor injuries and is now charged with battery on a police officer, DUI and eluding.

Two adult male passengers were cited and released for minor consuming alcohol.
