LEWISTON - An afternoon accident on Thain took down power lines and sent a man to the hospital.

Lewiston Police said that at about 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, 68-year-old Douglas Brannon was traveling south on Thain when he left the road and struck a power pole in front of Papa Murphy's Pizza.

Brannon was taken to St. Joe's where he was treated and released. His car was totaled in the crash. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Power was lost at several nearby businesses and the lines were being treated as live. Both lanes of traffic on Thain were closed for about 25 minutes. Around 3:45 p.m. the power pole was replaced by Avista and power restored to the area.

During the accident Brannon's dog was in the car and ran away after the crash. Police say the dog is a small brown Shih Tzu and would appreciate calling them if you find it.
