ASOTIN - After nearly five hours of deliberation, a jury was unable to agree on a verdict in an Asotin County kidnapping case.

Monday was day four of the trial. Rex Gregory was charged with kidnapping in the second degree with sexual motivation. Monday morning both the prosecution and the defense gave their closing statements, before the jury deliberations began.

Deputy Prosecutor Curt Liedkie said with a mistrial declared, the defendant will continue to be held in the Asotin County Jail until the case is retried or dropped.

Liedkie said over the next couple of days he will take a look at information evidence and make a decision on whether or not to retry the case.

A review hearing is set for next Monday.
