LEWISTON - The Lewiston City Council will consider an ordinance that would require residents to clean up their yards.

The rule would bar citizens from storing piles of farm implements, bicycles, construction materials, appliances or other unsightly debris.

City Code Enforcement Officer Steve Campbell said he's received complaints from people who said neighbors are stacking piles of junk against shared fences, making the fence bow.

But Campbell said there is currently no way to address the problem in city law.
