Mutual aid called in to fight blaze that broke out in a Lewiston apartment building Friday afternoon; no injuries were reported, but three apartments are uninhabitable.

At about 2:45 p.m. Lewiston Fire crews were called to the 2-alarm blaze at the Orchards Villa Apartments in the 600 Block of Linden Avenue.
Upon arrival, flames were coming out of the side window of apartment L.
Lewiston called for mutual aid from both the Asotin County Fire District and the Clarkston Fire Department and backup crews were called in to staff Lewiston fire stations. Lewiston Police blocked off the surrounding streets.
The entire building, of 12 apartments was evacuated. The fire was out within 30 minutes.
Battalion Chief Travis Myklebust said the cause is under investigation but that it did appear to start in a child's room and spread to the attic.
Three apartments were not habitable Friday night, with the one where the fire started being a total loss.
LFD said several occupants were home at the time of the blaze but everyone got out safely and there were no injuries.
