Teen makes plea deal for armed robbery

LEWISTON - A Lewiston teen has pleaded guilty to his involvement in an armed robbery in early August.

18-year-old Levi Linton pleaded guilty to a charge of Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery in Nez Perce County 2nd District Court Monday.

Linton held a shotgun to a teenage woman's head and demanded money and other valuables. He was arrested the next day when recognized by one of the victims.

Linton was initially charged with Robbery and Attempted Robbery with an enhancement for use of a deadly weapon, but those charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Nez Perce County Deputy Prosecutor Nancy Berger-Schneider said the state is recommending a period of retained jurisdiction, meaning Linton would spend at least six months in prison in Cottonwood, after which his sentence could be reviewed.

Linton is scheduled to be sentenced on January 20. He remains in the Nez Perce County Jail.
