MOSCOW - Six months after he was convicted in the shooting death of another man, a Moscow man is out of prison.

James Leonard pleaded guilty to a Voluntary Manslaughter charge in February, for killing Tyler Pace Lee at a Latah County home in 2007. In May Leonard was sentenced to 5-15 years in prison, with a six month period of retained jurisdiction.

In a hearing to review Leonard's progress in that program, the Idaho Department of Correction recommended a release and probation and 2nd District Judge Jeff Brudie agreed.

Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said Leonard did everything he needed to do in the program, and will be under strict supervision for the next 15 years.

Latah County Jail officials said Leonard was released Wednesday.
