ASOTIN - Asotin County Chief Appraiser Chris Wood is making a bid to become the assessor.

Wood is a long time Asotin County resident and has worked in the assessor'ss office for over twenty years.

"I've worked in the Asotin County Assessor's Office since 1987," said Wood. "I've worked my way up through the ranks. I know the day to day operations of the office. I know the people that come and go and the different organizations that we work with. We help them and they help us in return."

Wood said it's her experience in the office that makes her the best candidate. She said she values accuracy, a trait she said is imperative in her current position as chief appraiser.

Wood said, if elected she will use those skills as Asotin County assessor.

"It's important because under Washington state law we are to assess properties at 100 percent of fair market value and that is what gives the base, if it is done fairly and accurately, to generate revenue for the county, which helps pay for fire department, police department, schools, all of that," said Wood.
