ANATONE - Trailers, piles of lumber, trash and just a big “mess.”

That's what a neighbor is saying about a next-door trailer park that was to be, but never happened.

Jim Moss owns a shady little oasis on Sangster Road near Anatone. But he said his little piece of heaven isn't as perfect as it should be. He says his neighbor Beverly Tucker's mess is tarnishing his paradise.

"I was told over four years ago that there were things in the mill to take care of it," said Moss. "So I've been dealing with it for at least four years."

Moss attended this week's Asotin County Commissions meeting to express his continued dismay that Tucker had not been forced to clean up her place, jokingly calling it Beverly Hills.

Tucker was permitted several years ago to put in a trailer park. Since that time, officials say the permit has been revoked because she did not comply with the conditions.

Moss says Tucker has about a dozen trailers and he's only seen three in use.

"It's not a very pretty picture when you drive over the hill and these things are falling apart and laying everywhere," said Moss. "I don't think they need to be stored here."

With that said, Moss isn't opposed to the trailer park if it's all done legally. But he says with the trailers in their current state of disrepair, garbage ends up landing in his yard.

"Just about anything that a hurricane can move, it gets here," said Moss. "All the way from insulation, to plywood to roofing metal, garbage sacks, tarps, everything."

And that material gets blown into his grove of trees and his fish ponds, he claims.

"There's a wild stream that runs between the pond and her place that I've seen bread sacks and stuff go down the creek," said Moss. "I'm sure the Fish and Wildlife people wouldn't really appreciate that."

Moss also said he believes she's burying garbage on a hillside.

"The garbage isn't where it used to be, but I've never seen any evidence of it leaving here, that's the only thing I know, "said Moss.

This week the Asotin County Health District visited the land.

"They said they were looking for household garbage or evidence of garbage being buried," said Moss.

The health district said they couldn't discuss what they found, but said they do have a couple of issues they will be talking to Tucker about.

"If they took care of their own business they wouldn't have to worry about mine," said Tucker Thursday morning in a phone interview.

"I'm not trying to run somebody else's life, I just want mine left alone," said Moss.

But Tucker is serious about her trailer park plans.

"I am going to have my trailer park if I have to go all the way to the president," said Tucker.

Sheriff Ken Bancroft said he's been out to the property several times and Tucker has been cited under the junk ordinance. He said there were minor improvements so he gave her the benefit of the doubt, but will be monitoring it more closely now.

When it comes to the trailers, Bancroft said that's an issue for county Building and Planning.

Tucker says she has been in contact with CNN's Anderson Cooper via email who told her they would look into it.
