LEWISTON - Two people were hospitalized after their vehicle was rear-ended Saturday on a Nez Perce County road.

It happened on Webb Cutoff Road about five miles south of Lewiston. Nez Perce County Sheriff's deputies on scene said the driver of a Mitsubishi SUV was coming around a corner too fast when it rammed into the back of a Suzuki. That caused the Suzuki to roll to more than 100 feet past where the collision took place.

The Mitsubishi ended up in a field north of the road. The driver of the Suzuki and her husband, who was the only passenger, were taken to the hospital with what deputies called minor bumps and bruises.

Deputies say they cited the driver of the Mitsubishi for speeding and inattentive driving. He was not injured.
