LEWISTON - Firefighters said an electrical problem sparked a fire in an Orchards home Wednesday afternoon.

It happened at 710 Preston Avenue at about 2:00 p.m.

Lewiston firefighter Bernie Sander said an electrical feed heading into the home's basement is the most likely cause of what was a smoldering fire. Flames weren't visible, but fire crews on scene were trying to extinguish burning embers at the source of the blaze.

The fire did not spread to the rest of the home and no one was injured.

Lewiston Police closed down Preston Avenue between 7th and 9th street while firefighters were at the location.
