LEWISTON - Martin Phillips now sits in the Nez Perce County Jail, accused of Wednesday's robbery at the Lewiston Albertsons.

Police said Phillip's handed a note to an employee at the Albertsons pharmacy demanding specific types of prescription medication.

Lewiston Police captain Roger Lanier said that the note did not say anything about a gun and they now do not believe he was armed. But the note allegedly said that “others” were watching.

Police said Phillips ran away on foot with some of the drugs.

The robbery spurred a search of the block directly behind the store. Lanier said it is possible that the 30-year-old Phillips was hiding just outside of the police search perimeter in a trailer belonging to an acquaintance.

Police were able to identify him through surveillance video and Asotin County Deputies then arrested Phillips on Stafford Drive in Clarkston. He was booked into the Asotin County Jail.

Lanier said last night Phillips had a medical emergency, possibly related to the stolen medication and was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Upon Phillips release from the hospital Thursday morning, LPD arrested him and he was being held on three misdemeanor warrants, along with the felony robbery charge in Nez Perce County.
