The state legislature will consider a measure to tack two more cents per gallon on to the state's gas tax. If approved, the additional two cents would be added to your gas bill in July. It would raise $17.6 million for roads.
A ten-cent tax was shot down earlier in the session.
Action News caught up with drivers gassing up at the Tesoro station in Lewiston to see what they think.
"I actually think it would be a pretty good idea because they can't find much other help to fix the roads and stuff," said Lapwai tesident Anthony Capetillo. "They are raising cigarette prices so they might as well raise gas too."
"Like anything else you don't want to see more money coming out of our pockets for things, but if it is going to be really used to repair roads, which we really need in our Valley, in our community, I'm not too upset about it," said Lewiston resident Wendy Storrs.
"As long as it is used here locally as well, not just down south where the capital is," said Doug Debruin of Clarkston.
"Some places around Lewiston it gets really bumpy and it feels like your car just goes like that some times," said Capetillo.
"Gas prices right now are so much lower that it's not just such a big deal to think about a couple of cents per gallon going up," said Storrs.
