LEWISTON - A Lewiston man will spend a month and a half behind bars for his involvement in last summer's Normal Hill burglaries.

Tyler Elben will spend 45 days in the Nez Perce County Jail, after District Judge Carl Kerrick suspended 135 days from a six month sentence.

Elben plead guilty in December to one count of grand theft by possession of stolen property. Police linked Elben and Daniel O'Dowd to several burglaries in Lewiston's Normal Hill neighborhood from April to September of last year.

O'Dowd is serving a period of retained jurisdiction in Cottonwood.

Deputy Prosecutor Nancy Berger-Schneider said the state did not have enough information tying Elben to the actual burglaries, and requested a five-year probation period.

Elben will owe more than $3,000 in restitution, $2,757.08 for victims, $500 for attorney and court costs. He is scheduled to begin his jail time Tuesday.
