ASOTIN - Work continues at the Asotin County Sheriff's Office to make it safer.

"We are installing a security wall to help control traffic in and out of the office," said Asotin County Sheriff Ken Bancroft. "After the shooting in Latah County last year, that just brought to the front burner the problems that could face us. We don’t know who we are dealing with anymore so it's something I wanted to put into place. It was approved last year and we are finally getting this thing up and running."

The security wall will include a locked door and a pass through window for office staff. As part of the project, the office has replaced some windows.

"We already replaced three windows, my office, the office door that has windows in it, plus the large window where the office staff is moving to," said Bancroft. "So those are now bullet-resistant as well."

Bancroft said he expects the project to be completed next week.
