Daniel O'Dowd in court Wednesday.

By Matt Loveless

LEWISTON - One of the men involved in the summer's Normal Hill burglaries will spend time in prison.

Daniel O'Dowd plead not guilty in October, and was set to face a jury beginning next week, but the Lewiston man signed a plea agreement, admitting guilt to a count of grand theft.

O'Dowd will now be sent to the North Idaho Correctional Institute after 2nd District Judge Jeff Brudie Wednesday sentenced him to 3 - 7 years. Brudie retained jurisdiction and O'Dowd could be released early and placed on probation depending on program participation and behavior.

Brudie called the sentence "a pretty substantial break" for O’Dowd, who has a history of theft.

O'Dowd's accomplice, Tyler Elben, also pleaded guilty to grand theft. He is scheduled for sentencing on February 12.
