LEWISTON – They were just hangin' out for turkey dinner fixins.

"We are just trying to get food for the food bank and a lot of people have come up here and a lot of businesses have shown their support," said 101.5 CAT-FM DJ Evan Yeoman.

Yeoman and other jocks are spending their day Friday and Saturday suspended 20 feet above the ground all in the name of charity and a food drive, with the focus on holiday turkeys.

The Community Action Partnership Food Bank is looking to provide a happy holiday for those who may not be able to get the items for themselves.

"Personal items, to canned food, to frozen food, to all vegetables, fresh vegetables," said CAP Volunteer Ramona Lentz. "We're getting a lot of help from the community, and we're doing very well, donations are going well, turkeys are doing great, and our truck is getting pretty full."

As for those airborne in a trailer in the Orchards, Lentz said she loves the effort.

"I think that's great," said Lentz. "I'm not from here, I've only been here a year, so I've never seen something like this before. I think it's pretty cool that the community comes together to make sure no one starves."

The turkey drive goes until Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot of A & B Family Foods on Thain in Lewiston.
