LEWISTON - A driver and passenger are safe after their truck erupted into flames Wednesday afternoon at LCSC.

It happened just before 2:00 p.m near the intersection of 4th Street and 10th Avenue, across from the Sam Glenn Complex.

The owner and driver, who was the passenger, said they could smell gasoline as they were headed north on Prospect Avenue, and seconds after turning onto 4th Street, the driver said he could feel the heat and smell the smoke.

They were able to get out of the pickup before it became fully engulfed in flames.

The pickup's owner said she had just had a new engine installed Tuesday. Lewiston Police said that is a likely reason for the fire.

No one was injured, but the car was totaled.
