LEWISTON - Only minor injuries were reported in a head-on collision in Lewiston Tuesday morning.

It happened just before 10:00 a.m. Police said a woman driving a Bronze Plymouth told them was eastbound on Burrell Avenue, going the speed limit, when she was cut off.

"She said suddenly a red Chevy car made a quick left turn directly in front of her, which was traveling westbound on Burrell, trying to make a left turn onto 7th Street," said Lewiston Police Officer Robert Massey. "The lady who was driving the Plymouth said she quickly applied the brakes but wasn't able to stop in time."

An elderly female passenger in the Plymouth complained of chest pain, but when paramedics came, she refused medical treatment, telling police she would go to the doctor herself.

Massey said the driver of the Chevy had insurance, but not a valid license.

"The person making the left turn got a citation for driving with a suspended driver's license and failing to yield on a left turn," said Massey.

Massey did not identify either of the drivers.
