LEWISTON - The registration deadline for Washington voters has passed, but Idaho voters have until Friday to get in on the general election.

On Monday, and for the next month, the Brammer Building in Lewiston will be the only place county voters can go to cast their vote. There, you can also register until the Friday deadline. County Clerk and Auditor Patty Weeks said people were trickling in all day for Idaho early absentee voting process.

"It is absentee voting, but it allows people to vote early, to avoid the long lines that we will probably have on election day," Weeks said.

In 2000's open election, Weeks said they had about 2,500 people register on Election Day, and had to start photocopying registration slips. She said they're ready for a big turnout this year.

"We're having a lot of foot traffic coming in," said Weeks. "A lot of groups out in the community are working to register people to vote so activity is really really up."
