LEWISTON - Maybe a strike wasn't such a good idea. Union representatives won't comment on why, but a union majority has spoken.

Machinists working at Potlatch will continue doing so, and accepted the contract offer made by Potlatch last month. A vote Thursday was the second in a month over whether or not to strike against the corporation, which offered lump-sum bonus of two and a half percent per year to it's employees. Two-thirds of the union voted to reject the offer in early August, and even after threats of a work stoppage, no picket lines formed.

Potlatch spokesman Matt Van Vleet said they are pleased that the contract is finally complete and look forward to continuing with normal operations.
