Sheriff Dorion to be replaced
Three names have been submitted as replacements for Sheriff Dorion By Matt Loveless
LEWISTON - Local democrats submit their preferences for a vacant Sheriff's seat.
Last week, Nez Perce County commissioners voted to vacate the sheriff's position, after more than 100 days, and no sign of sheriff Jim Dorion. Dorion was on 90-day medical leave for what he told the county was pancreatic cancer. With the sheriff's seat now open, the county's democratic party has sent three names to Commissioners. At their Tuesday meeting, they picked Dale Buttrey of Kendrick, William Madison of Culdesac, and Ron Koeper of Lewiston as potential candidates. Party chair Pete Gertonson said interim sheriff Dale Buttrey is far and away their first choice. Buttrey was recently tabbed the committee's choice for the Democratic ticket in the November election. Commissioners will now choose one of the three men, likely at their next Public Agenda Meeting. |
