MOSCOW - A Moscow man was killed in what police say was a hit and run near a Moscow bar Wednesday afternoon.

Moscow Assistant Police Chief David Duke said authorities believe 50-year-old Kristian Lee Nelson was struck by a red Dodge Durango after walking out of the Corner Club on north Main Street.

Duke said no one witnessed the accident, but the investigation shows the SUV was southbound in an alley east of the club and was turning into the parking lot when Nelson was hit.

Duke said tire tracks and other evidence in the lot allowed investigators to identify the Durango, parked at a nearby business. Police cut off access to the Grange Building where the vehicle was parked and later towed it away from the scene.

Duke said officers have not yet identified the driver, but the owner was being questioned at the station. Idaho State Police was called in to assist with the investigation.

Duke asked that anyone having information about the incident contact the department at 208-882-2677.
