ASOTIN - Columbia County is the next stop in the Kelley A. Wilson saga.

Asotin County Superior Court Judge William Acey had approved the change of venue request from Wilson's lawyer Scott Gallina on Monday. Wednesday morning, Judge Acey held a status hearing to discuss the new location. He ordered that the trial be moved to Dayton. It is scheduled to begin September 8.

Wilson agreed to waive her right to a speedy trial, by one day, to allow the change of venue. Wilson will next be transferred to the state penitentiary in Walla Walla to await the trial.

Prosecutor Ben Nichols, Judge Acey and defense attorney Scott Galina will all handle the trial in the new location. Nichols said Acey moved the trial in order to find an untainted jury. Pre-trial media reports were the primary concern.

Wilson is being retried for first degree murder. She was found guilty in 2005 for the killing of Charles Thrush of Clarkston.
