Oregon teen killed in crash west of Dayton

DAYTON - A 15-year-old Oregon girl was killed Monday afternoon in a crash on U.S. 12 nine miles west of Dayton.

According to the Washington State Patrol, 19-year-old Heather A. Hancock of Boardman, Oregon was westbound in a 1992 Honda Accord at about 12:20. A westbound semi driven by 26-year-old Christopher L. Curn of Richland was stopped for road construction. WSP said Hancock's car slammed into the rear of the semi.

A passenger in Hancock's car, Chianne L. Griffin-Gaede, 15, of Stanfield, Oregon was killed. Hancock was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla where she was treated and released. Curn was not injured.

Everyone involved in the crash was wearing seat belts according to WSP. WSP is investigating.
