LEWISTON - Valley residents got their goods fresh and local Wednesday at Brackenbury Square.
The Lewiston Farmer's Market is open for business and costumers were excited to get their share of baked goods, fresh produce and a variety of crafts. It was all part of the re-dedication of the new and improved square in the middle of downtown Lewiston. Over $165,000 was spent on improving Brackenbury. First time market attendee George Rauch said he had a great time and thinks the attraction is a big plus for the community. "I think it's pretty neat," said Rauch. "It's great for the Valley. It needs to expand and it will as weather gets better, but it's really neat." And consumers aren't the only ones who anticipated the first sale. Some venders rely heavily on their products to provide for their families. "We're trying to add to the finally income," said vendor Bonnie Gray. "We're trying to make a living off the land and homemade and natural products in Lapwai. We come to the Farmer's Market to sell our produce and our baked goods." Buyers were pleased with the loot, and it appeared once a costumer always a costumer. "Oh yeah, we'll be back," said Rauch. "You betcha." If you missed Wednesday's market, don't worry. The market is set for every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. until September. |
