Sunday crash sends Kentucky woman to hospital

CLARKSTON - A Kentucky woman was transported to Tri-State Sunday after an accident on 15th Street in Clarkston.

According to the Asotin County Sheriff's Office, 30-year-old Melody Tucker of Oak Grove, KY, was traveling East on Chestnut in her Dodge Durango.

Police say Tucker stopped at the stop sign, and was planning to turn left, onto northbound 15th Street. Police say she pulled out right in front of 36-year-old Connie Schafman, of Clarkston, traveling southbound on 15th, hitting Schafman’s Ford Windstar. Schafman swerved, crossing oncoming lanes of traffic, ending up in an empty lot.

Tucker was transported to Tri-State Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Tucker's four passengers were uninjured. Schafman was also uninjured.

According to the Asotin County Sheriff's Office, Tucker was being issued a citation for failure to yield.
