ASOTIN - The man accused of 2nd degree murder and leaving the scene of an injury accident in Lewiston is also facing charges in Asotin County.

45-year-old-James W Schuetze is charged in connection with the death of 8-year-old Sydney Byrd. Schuetze was arrested in Clarkston after allegedly leaving the hit and run scene in Lewiston.

In Asotin County, Schuetze is facing criminal driving under the influence charges as well as driving with a suspended license.

Friday morning he appeared via video before Judge Ray Lutes in District Court. They arraigned Schuetze on the DUI and suspended license charges. The DUI carries a minimum $1,000 fine. But, Schuetze will have bigger problems, when extradited to Nez Perce County, where he will face 2nd degree murder charges among others.

Friday, Judge Lutes asked Schuetze about how he would like to handle the extradition. Schuetze indicated that he would like it to happen as soon as possible. At this time, Schuetze is scheduled to appear back in court on June 11.
