Just one more penny
On Monday, the cost of a first class postage stamp goes up to 42 cents. By Stephanie Smith
LEWISTON - Inflation. It's real. It's here. But it's never a surprise when the price of a postage stamp goes up.
And so the U.S. Postal Service is going to do it again. Beginning Monday it will cost you another penny to mail a first class letter. That's 42 cents. USPS says the average increase by class of mail is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index. If you are one of those people who think a stamp should last forever, you can still purchase Forever stamps for 41 cents through Sunday and you can use them as first class postage forever. There should be plenty on hand. The Postal Service says they have five billion of them in stock to meet increased demand. |
